The archaeological findings in this area suggest traces of buildings from a historical period predating the first written evidence of Chişineu-Criş's existance (1202-1203), when this place had the name of villa Jeneusol. The village of Nădab was first mentioned in a written document under the name of Nodob in 1334.

The most important archaeological discoveries in this area have brought to light objects older that 2500 years, from various places within the town's heart. Of major importance are the archaeological sites where two settlements were found, dated between the centuries III-V and X-XI.

Location

The town of Chişineu-Criş is one of the oldest in the western part of Romania. It is situated at 46° 32' 3" northern longitude and 21° 38' eastern latitude, on the two banks of the river Crişul Alb, at a distance of 42 km from the city of Arad and 72 km from Oradea.

As for the administrative territory of the town, in the West it's limited by the territory of Socodor, in South by Şimand, in North by Zerind, and in East by Sintea-Mare, with the villages Tipar, Adea and Zărand.

The national highway Arad-Oradea is crossing the town, from which, before the bridge over Crişul Alb, in the direction Arad-Oradea, a junction creates the national highway towards Vărsând, at the Hungarian border. The railroad between Arad and Oradea is situated in the East, and in the West is one of the oldest railways in the country: Pădureni-Grăniceri.

The presence of the river Crişul Alb, which practically splits the town in half, allows the irrigation of various plant cultures, b using the water as a supply source.

The water dykes, further raised in the area near Chişineu-Criş (1974), prevent the flooding of these regions, especially in the dangerous periods of Spring, when the melting snow contributes to the river's size.

As for the the positioning in Europe, as a part of Romania, our town is situated in Eastern Europe. It generally has a status of buffer-plain between the Criş rivers and Ţara Zărandului.
